The Two Thieves
Scripture: Luke 23:39-43 (NRSV)
Memory is powerful. When someone doesn’t forget us, our heart is touched. Remembering to pick up that item at the grocery store your loved one requested. Remembering a name. We don’t want to be forgotten or unremembered. “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” That vulnerable and moving line was uttered by a criminal given the death sentence of crucifixion beside Jesus. Jesus remembered and he acted—providing paradise not just in the future, but today. Each and every one of us are that criminal. We all were enemies of Christ. In this time of trial for us and our world, cry out to Christ. He will answer even sooner than we imagined!
