The Tenacity of Tenderness
Scripture: Luke 15:1-7 (NRSVue)
Jesus loves us not only as his flock, but as individual sheep. He’ll leave the ninety-nine to find that one lost sheep. And he rejoices over, not rails against, his long lost lamb. Christ not only takes us up on his shoulders, he calls us to put on his heart, and tenaciously and tenderly look out for strays. Like the Good Shepherd, we put forth that effort to pray for, search for, and shed tears for those that have lost their way. Like Jesus, we celebrate when that one is brought back home.
