Knowing the Time
Scripture: Romans 13:11-14 (NRSVue)
Advent is a time and season for us to prepare our hearts for Christ’s coming: his first coming to Bethlehem and his second coming that is yet to come. We have an invitation from God this Advent to enjoy the spiritual adventure of time. Spiritual timekeeping is different from clock watching or clocking in. It entails prayerful attention, pausing, waiting, reflecting, and acting. The good news is this: Christ not only teaches us to tell time, He redeems our time. He empowers us to: understand our past and be reconciled to it, face the future courageously, and live faithfully and joyfully in the present. God is good… all the time.
