Humility 101: Dust
ASH WEDNESDAY
Scripture: Psalm 90:1-17 (NRSV)
A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.
There’s a saying in Judaism, that can be translated two ways:
Either:
Let the dust of the feet of the Sages cover you
as you walk close behind their heels,
eager to catch up and listen.
Or:
Sit in the dust at the Rabbi’s feet as he teaches.
Humble yourself. Listen and learn.
Whether sitting, standing, or walking, may you be covered with the dust of Rabbi Jesus this Ash Wednesday and Lent. Remain so close to Jesus, that you follow in his dusty footsteps all the way to the cross and out of the empty tomb.
