A Thirst for Spirituality
Scripture: John 15:5-8 (NRSV)
We human beings are a lot like roses. You can put a rose in a vase as a way to commemorate a loved one or celebrate a birth or an achievement. But the beautiful rose doesn’t last long, even when given plenty of water, because it’s been severed from the rose bush. In the same way, on our own, we’ll soon wither and fade away. Jesus puts it this way: “Apart from me, you can do nothing…Abide in me and I in you.” In other words, we can only be spiritually vibrant by staying connected to Christ, the true vine. Don’t go out on a limb, without Jesus. He alone can slake our spiritual thirst.
