Hunger Awareness Sunday!

October 16th is World Food Day and this Sunday’s focus is upon Hunger Awareness. Jesus showed us the importance of human hunger when he had compassion on the multitudes who had no food in the gospels. Hunger, it is said, is a “shadow” pandemic during the coronavirus pandemic. The World Bank estimates that 88 to 115 million more people will be pushed into extreme poverty in 2020 as a result of the pandemic and the economic fall-out. World Vision says that the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to double the number of people facing food crises. More might die from hunger than from the coronavirus itself. Tremendous giving by governments, churches, and non-profits has helped soften the devastating impact of this hard-hitting pandemic, but more help is needed. In this service, we will look at the scriptural, spiritual, and social responsibilities the church has to those less-fortunate.
