1 Kings: The Wisdom of Solomon
Scripture: 1 Kings 3:5-15 (NRSV)
King Solomon is asked by God in a dream, “your wish is my command.” Solomon asked not for power, long-life, fame, or revenge, but instead for wisdom or literally a “listening heart.” Solomon exhibited wisdom by his humility, gratitude, dependence upon God, and recognition that leadership is a gift that we are to wisely steward in the service of others.
