Worship and Music
We believe that worship is the most important thing we do as a congregation.
Our worship empowers us to carry the Spirit into the worlds in which we live and work. We value music as prayer, gratitude, proclamation of the Word of God, and celebration. We'd love to have you join us.
We offer two styles of worship on Sundays. Our Alternative Worship Service at 8:30am features band-oriented music and a multi-sensory, interactive, and relational worship experience that bridges our ancient faith and our modern day questions and challenges.
Music at 8:30 is led by Will Price, our lead vocalist and guitarist. He is joined by his wife, Anja, on keyboard and sax, Bob & Carol Van Gelder and Joy Hager, vocalists, and Carl Cherry, bass and drums. As part of the Alternative Worship experience, we invite you to share your story of how God has been in your life on our Estoria web page.
At 11:00, our Traditional Worship Service features music led by the Sanctuary Choir, with organ, piano, and frequently other instruments such as brass ensembles, violin, timpani, and percussion--even steel pan.  We sing a wide variety of world music, from traditional hymns, to Latin songs, folk tunes, Taizé, and jazzy stuff that'll make you tap your feet. We also have three handbell choirs of varying ages and skill levels, from 4th grade through adult.
Our services of "Music & the Word" feature an eclectic selection of anthems sung by the choir, instrumental music, and narratives and reflections from the pastor, all based on a particular scriptural theme. We hold these twice a year -- at Christmas and in the Spring at both the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services.

The Sanctuary Choir, directed by Dr. Walter (Billy) Schurr, rehearses on Thursdays from 6:45 to 8:30 pm. We welcome all adults who enjoy singing. Prior choir experience is not required. If you can carry a tune and count to 4, you qualify!

The choir welcomes winter residents. We have several folks who sing with us for just a few months who hail from as far away as Iowa, Wisconsin, New York, Nebraska, Indiana, and even Canada.

Immanuel also has three handbell choirs for varying ages and abilities.

Our sanctuary is equipped with a 3-manual Allen Renaissance digital organ, a 6'8" Kawai grand piano, and two Adams timpani. We frequently supplement our music with a variety of percussion instruments such as orchestral bells, bongos, suspended cymbal, steel drum, and djembe, many of which we are fortunate to own thanks to memorial and estate gifts.
In addition to worship every Sunday morning, the Immanuel community holds many special services of the Christian Year—Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, the Great Vigil of Easter on Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday sunrise service, and Pentecost.
